Ladybugs in the Classroom?

Bayfield High School is now equipped with 16 new document cameras. The Lumens DC 265 was purchased through a grant that Chantey Webbe applied for this summer. After taking a couple of graduate courses in technology, she was determined to acquire new tools for the classrooms at BHS. Due to the financial crisis, Mrs. Webbe was well aware that funding for technology was limited. After hearing about a possible eduction grant from La Plata Electric Association, she decided to take time out of her summer to apply for the grant. Fortunately, the grant was honored, giving BHS $12, 500. This amount allowed for 15 document cameras, 2 flip cameras, and hopefully one SMART board, although there currently is not enough funding left for the interactive white board.

"I did it for the kids," Chantey said. "As an educator I see the antiquated system of teaching. They need creative lessons with constant interaction and instant feedback. These tools are crucial for our students to keep up and stay educated in this digital age."

Mrs. Webbe would like to thank Bayfield Schools Administration, Bill Bishop, and her colleagues that helped support the mission. Lastly, a huge thank you to LPEA for this munificent donation!
