History of the Harris Fund
In December 2000, the Harris Family donated a commercial building to the Bayfield School District. This building is located on Highway 160 in Bayfield and is currently home to the Pine River Pawn Shop. The District rents this space to the Pawn Shop, and the proceeds, per request of the Harris Family, are used to benefit students in extracurricular activities.
Extracurricular activities are defined as those activities which are performed by students, under faculty sponsorship, outside of the normal curriculum provided by the District. Such activities are generally voluntary, as opposed to mandatory, and social, as opposed to scholastic.
Schedule of Meetings
Beginning with the 2010/11 School Year, the Harris Fund Committee will meet three times a year in September, January and May. Meetings will generally be held on the first Wednesday of the month. The Committee will continue to send reminders to all staff throughout the school year.
