Staff and Parents,
On Saturday, February 11, the Bayfield School District spent its second full community planning day on the School District Strategic Plan. We had an excellent turnout with the return of most of the 50 participants from the January 28th meeting. The entire day was spent defining vision statements and goals for each of the priority areas that had been identified on January 28th. It was determined that our original priority area of “21st Century Skills” would be integrated throughout the other four priority areas.
Committee members were given the opportunity to align with priority areas about which they are most passionate. Four sub-committees, or task forces, were developed to define a Vision Statement for their Priority Area. Each task force will create goals and action steps for their Priority Area, a first draft of which will be presented at a special Board meeting on March 15, at 5:30 p.m. At this meeting , the Board as well as the members from all task force groups will give feedback on action plans. Each task force will utilize this information to create a final action plan to be submitted to the Board at a special Board meeting on April 12th at 5:30 p.m.
The action plans created by each task force will contribute to the final Strategic Plan to be presented to the School Board for adoption at the regular Board meeting on May 8th. The plan will also be presented to the community at a meeting later in May, time and date to be determined.
The Four Priority Areas and Vision Statements for each are as follows:
Priority Area: Meeting individual student success/needs
Vision Statement: The Bayfield School District will create a community wide culture of success that results in growth for individual students.
Priority Area: Exemplary Staff
Vision Statement: The Bayfield School District staff will be provided with, and utilize the tools, skills and incentives to be exemplary.
Priority Area: Increase access to Career and Technical (CTE) programming
Vision Statement: By graduation all Bayfield School District students will have acquired the foundational skills to make self-directed career and life choices to be workforce ready.
Priority Area: Support co-curricular activities
Vision Statement: The Bayfield School District will integrate co-curricular/extra-curricular opportunities in a safe, inviting environment, with a cooperative culture and supportive policies, facilities, organization and resources.
I would like to publicly thank all of the committee members for their commitment to the students of Bayfield. They are giving a large sum of time and energy to this process and it is very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Troy D. Zabel
